Learning some culture and practicing sign language?

From Brent: "One of the local missionaries came to speak to us  about local commonalities; things to do/say and things to not do/say.
Wave with your right hand, not your left.
Shorts playing sports = OK.
Shorts in town = not OK.
Us (male) waving to them (male) =  OK.
Us waving to them (female) = not OK.
Thumbs up = OK.
Thumb and finger together to form "OK" = not OK.
Strange!?!?!
Lots of neat stories.
Met one of the workers here.  His name is Amibu (sounds like it looks).  He speaks no English.  I speak no French.  But me pointing to different things; black, white, red, hand, foot, nose, etc... we are able to make a connection and begin to talk!  Really cool!"

  1. Good to know - I hope that you remember all that when you're out in public! If not, at least you'll have some good stories to tell.
