Today we officially began our 2 weeks of work at the
hospital compound. The site is 63 acres with a wall around and one gate.
We started the work day about an hour later as it totally poured for about 5 hours this morning and the electricity was out up through lunch. Our crew finished installing a suspended ceiling in one of the large store rooms. Its looking really great. Next, we'll begin sealing up the shelf units that will be going into this store room. They are about 20 feet long each (3 of them) and heavy duty. It will probably take about 10 guys to move it carefully over the nice tile floor.
Seeing
some of our projects, such as painting , installing windows, painting and
installing ceiling tiles, and painting shelving units, were rewarding. But
meeting people was amazing and we were so blessed to worship with many
missionaries last night, meet Nogbege and his family, and then a very special
person tonight.
Tonight as we arrived home from the work site, we were
greeted by a missionary (Adam Drake) and Marie Dominique – Marie is the mother
of Sonja who we video interviewed on an
earlier blog and works at Cole Christian but was originally from Togo. Praise
the Lord! She traveled by taxi over 8 hours to meet up with us. Jerald was able
to hand deliver to her a large envelope of family photos & personal
correspondence that he received from Marie’s Daughter Sonja before we left. Praise the Lord! We ended with a group photo
with her and then sent her away with a prayer of blessing. May we always
remember that people are more important than the project.
Get some sun, white boys. So glad that you were able to make contact with Sonia's mom. I'm sure that will mean so much to both of them!
