Black, Red, tonight is White

We've had a great time helping
El Tesoro Church and the McKeeth's
in their outreach to Farmway Village.

*Thanks to  Kelly and Wendy for the pictures for this week!
CCY worked on Monday from 1-5 then went over to Farmway.  One thing that they did to prep was to make this sign.  All week they are studying the attributes of God to prepare for their time at Farmway Village

Monday: BLACK "Repent therefore and return that your sins may be wiped away." Acts 3:19
Pastor Randy hanging out with the kids before it starts.  He then brings all the kids he meets over to the VBS.

We sing in Spanish and in English.

Camp Pinewood Staff Summer 2012

Yesterday in church we were introduced to this year's Summer Staff at Camp Pinewood.
It's pretty easy serving as a sender by simply praying.
Let's make sure to pray for these staff members!
Ryan Brown, Ryan Kurvits, Kirsten Duron &  Cristi Cundal

They would love to get encouragement notes at camp.....along with our counselors, etc.  Here's the address:

How can we serve as senders for Kierstin?

First, thank you so much for your notes for the team!   These are going to be a great encouragement!

Second, PRAY!  I'll be posting specifics as I find them out.  Pray for Kierstin as she mentioned in the previous post.  Pray for integrity and courage for the team.

Third, support her family here at MFBC.  Love them.  Pray for them.

Fourth, check out this newscast about Wipe Every Tear here.

Fifth, get on the Wipe Every Tear website to learn more here.

Sixth, go to the airport on Saturday and help send her off!  I'll have more details soon on when would be a good time to see her there before she goes through security!

It's Summer Vacation so Why Aren't You Just Going on Vacation?

I had the privilege of interviewing Kierstin Gentry before she is leaving for the Philippines with Wipe Every Tear (WET).  Here's how it went:

mfbcmissions:  Where will you be going this summer?

Kierstin:  I'll be going to Manila, Philippines to the WET Dahlia House (House of Hope).  And we'll be staying 3 nights in Navotos sleeping in a church there.
 Hope House

mfbcmissions:  What are the dates of the trip?

Kierstin:  We leave June 16th at 7:30 pm and we return July 6th around midnight

mfbcmissions:  What is WET all about?

Kiestin:  Basically it's about bringing hope to the hopeless and love to the brokenhearted.

     Mission

Wipe Every Tear is a team of disciples with a fearless love of Jesus committed to acting on His commission to the Church: to bring new life and hope to to the hopeless, the oppressed, and the brokenhearted in Metro Manila, Philippines.
Company Overview
Rescuing and bringing love and comfort to trafficked girls in the sex trade, orphans, widows, the hopeless and oppressed in Metro Manila, Philippines.
Description
Currently, Wipe Every Tear is working in Metro Manila, Philippines with trafficked girls who are transitioning out of prostitution.

We currently operate "Hope House" - a safe-house residential facility for young women trafficked in the sex trade. We offer counseling, training, education and discipleship as part of our holistic and Kingdom centered vision.

mfbcmissions:  What are you looking forward to on your trip this summer?

Kierstin:  I'm excited about meeting the girls and building relationships with them.  We get to set up the house.  Right now they have very few supplies and furniture at the house.  Cole Valley Christian Schools raised up funds for us to use to purchase these supplies for the house.  My advisory group made pillows for the girls.  I look forward to going to the orphanage.  We are planning on taking them on a beach trip and hanging out with them.

mfbcmissions:  What do you hope to learn on the trip?

Kierstin:  I hope to appreciate what I have here.  We'll be going to the slums and I know it's different and the different culture there.  I hope to remember how amazing America is. I want to come back different and closer to God.

mfbcmissions:  What challenges do you think you will have on a trip like this?

Kiersten: The food will be different, but I really like rice.  Physically the heat will probably be a challenge.  Also, there are just so many unknowns.

mfbcmissions:  How can we pray for you as you prepare to go?

Kierstin:  I still need some funds for the extras.  The extras would be like what Mr. Sacht calls his God pocket...it's where he has extra money in his pocket that he spends on people in need.  It's the extra money that he didn't already set aside for a specific task or person.

I also need a little bit of spending money while I'm there.  Basically all the money that I raised went to cover the cost of the trip.

Please pray for peace over the fears and apprehensions that I have. I've never been out of the country before and definitely not this far away from home.

Please pray for my health. And that the team can do a lot....we have a lot that they want to do.....we want to change the world!

Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land. Proverbs 25:25

Have we got some projects for you!  Are you game?

Project 1:
If you were part of the encouraging team (letter writing part) or if you were encouraged by letters (or perhaps you weren't part of either, but saw the encouragement that it brought) then we have 2 projects for you this week....
1)  We have 2 men from the Treasure Valley who are headed to Togo and we'd like to send some notes of encouragement to them.  They are Benji and Andy.  Please write a note specifically to one of these two men...or you could even write a note to one of the missionaries on the field.  We'll see if Benji and Andy can bring those as well.
2)  Kierstin Gentry is part of a team of 24 who will be leaving for the Philippines.  If you'd like to write to them, please write it to "Philippine Team Member" or something else really general. But make the letters real.  Really pray, really write encouraging notes.

For both of these projects please don't make the notes too big...remember they all have to go in suitcase!
**** Logistics....please email them to Beth Duron or get them to MFBC by this Sunday and we can get them to the teams on time.

Project 2:
We have a few things that we would like to send to Togo.  They are:
*Velcro cable ties
*Sharpie pens
*Stanley tape measures (25' or more)
*vice grips (all sizes)
* 9 volt batteries

we could also use the following, but please email Pastor Randy so they don't get duplicates of what they need:
*shop clock and batteries
*shop thermometer
*8" grindstone (5/8 " arbor)
*8" wire brush (5/8 " arbor)
*Ryobi 18 volt battery charger

Will you be part of sending these two teams?
